Mother’s Day is a wonderful idea and can be really nice!  For the parents and families I work with, though, the problems and issues that they’ve struggled with can be seen on this day.  Mother’s Day brings up our longing as parents to be appreciated and loved.  The day can become charged, “I just wanted this one day, for for my daughter to be civil and she can’t even do that!”  Or, kids, “Why should I care about Mother’s Day?  She doesn’t give a crap about me!”

Mother’s Day can be a time to celebrate with your family, and it can also be an opportunity to better understand unresolved tensions and conflicts.

How was your Mother’s Day?
